St. Charles – In the inaugural game of the Midwest Professional Basketball Association, the St. Louis RiverSharks defeated the Gateway Steam 108-96.  Keith DeWitt led the RiverSharks to victory by putting up 30 points while pulling down 11 rebounds.

Despite the double-double, the performance was no more than the second best highlight of DeWitt’s week, as he and his wife welcomed a baby into the world earlier in the week.

Four other RiverSharks, Terry Leak, Brandon Hogg, Kenny Williams, and Kenny McGowan also scored double-figures for the RiverSharks.   Leak was especially accurate from the field connecting on 8 of 10 attempts while finishing with 23 points.

Darion Anderson was the leading scorer for the Steam with 20 points with Chad Fortenberry, Brandon McGill, and Terrell Williams also scoring double figures.

Both teams return to action on Sunday with a double-header at the St. Charles Family Arena.  The RiverSharks will host the Bloomington Flex at 1 PM.  Aftewards, the Steam will play host to the Chicago Force at 4 PM.

Tickets may be bought at the Family Arena Box Office, or by calling MetroTix at (314) 534-1111.
