ST. LOUIS - Tonight's scheduled game between the Champaign Swarm and the Chicago Blues has been postponed due to the severe winter storm that is hammering the area.
The game had been scheduled for 6:05 p.m. at Parkland College. The school announced early this morning that it was closing due to the weather.
"We likely would have postponed the game, even if Parkland had not closed," said Craig Fata, chief communications officer for the Midwest Professional Basketball Association. "The stretch of Interstate 57 between Chicago and Champaign is expected to be in the heaviest band of snow. We didn't want the Blues or our officials trying to travel in that, before or after the game. These kinds of conditions are for emergency travel only," Fata said.
A makeup date will be announced at a later time.
