PONTIAC, Illinois – The expansion Pontiac 66ers of the Midwest Professional Basketball Association have officially launched their brand, with a new logo and social media accounts.

The logo features the familiar shield found on the legendary Route 66 highway sign, with red and blue chevrons coming to a point at the base of the shield.  A basketball sits in front of where the chevrons meet.

The logo was designed by Joyce Thomas, who was instrumental in the creation of most of the logos in the MPBA, including the league’s logo itself.

“It’s a super logo,” said Craig Fata, vice president and director of communications for the MPBA.  “The highway sign design evokes the road for which the team is named, and the chevrons at the bottom can represent either two roads meeting in Pontiac, or, combined with the shield, it looks like a vehicle maker’s badge on the grill of a car.”

The team has also launched its brand on Facebook and Twitter.  On Facebook the team can be found at Pontiac 66ers Professional Basketball, and on Twitter, the 66ers can be followed at @Pontiac66ers.
