Steam take over fourth place

CHICAGO - The battle for fourth place in the MPBA came down to a key fourth quarter run as the Gateway Steam outlasted the Chicago Force 127-116 at the Kroc Center in Chicago.  The win places the Steam solely in fourth place and continues what is now a three-game win streak.

Tarvin Gaines' put back bucket with 4:10 remaining gave the Steam (4-9) the lead at 109-108 and they would not relinquish it for the rest of the game.  Gaines wound up with 37 points and 14 rebounds in just his second game with the Steam.  Lee Fisher, who fouled out late in the game with Gaines, earned 17points.  Brandon McGill had 16 on some late drives to the basket to help bout the lead.

The Force (3-10) earned another tough loss, their fourth in a row, after leading for most of the fourth quarter.  Tremell Adams led Chicago with 24 points while Darius Smith added 23 along with four steals.  Team scoring leader Derrick McDonald chipped in 17.
