February 23, 2015

ST. LOUIS – Three big games in five days has earned Chicago Force guard Tremell Adams the nod for Midwest Professional Basketball Association Player of the Week honors for the week ending February 22, 2015.

On Thursday, February 18, Adams scored 36 points in a 101-98 win over the Windy City Groove, and the next night, he added 25 in a three-point loss to the Champaign Swarm, with 20 of those points coming in a tight fourth quarter.  Then, on Sunday, Adams poured in 40—nearly half his team’s points—in a 96-88 loss to Gateway.  Adams has upped his scoring average to 19.5 per game, which is fifth in the MPBA.

Nate Fuqua of the Windy City Groove  had a strong week as well.  On Friday against the St. Louis RiverSharks, Fuqua scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  He followed that up with a 36-point outburst against his old team, the Bloomington Flex, on Sunday.

Fuqua’s old teammate, Anthony Slack, continued his strong play for Bloomington.  On Thursday against the Steam, Slack scored 16 points, pulled down 11 rebounds, and blocked seven shots.  Then, on Sunday, Slack scored 30 points, grabbed 20 rebounds, and blocked 4 shots.

Also worthy of recognition was Jerrold Brooks of St. Louis.  Against the Groove on Thursday, Brooks scored 33 points on 6-of-8 shooting from three-point range.  He followed that up with a 24-point effort against the Champaign Swarm on Sunday, going 5-for-7 from beyond the arc.
