February 19, 2015

St. Charles MO – Jerrold Brooks led all scorers with 33 points, and connected on six out of eight three point attempts as the St. Louis RiverSharks defeated the Windy City Groove 107-94 Thursday at Family Arena.  The win moved the RiverSharks to 6-2 on the season and dropped the Groove to 2-7.

The RiverSharks led wire to wire, taking as much as a 26-point advantage in the second quarter.  But the Groove, fresh off of a heartbreaking loss last night to the Chicago Force, pulled to within three on three separate occasions in the third.

St. Louis opened it back up to eleven early in the final frame, but Windy City clawed their way back again.  After a pair of back-to-back three-point shots by Nate Fuqua got the Groove to within eight at 95-87, Brooks answered with a three-pointer of his own to get the lead back to eleven.  Windy City would get no closer

Joining Brooks in double-figures for the RiverSharks were Terry Leake, Brandon Hogg, and Keith DeWitt with 23, 21, and 21 points respectively.  DeWitt also added 12 rebounds in his fourth double-double effort on the season.

Fuqua led the Groove with 25 points, and also produced a double-double by pulling down 10 rebounds.  Fuqua also added five assists in a very solid all-around game.  Christopher Dillard, Lavante Douglas, Sam Morgan, and Demetrius Haywood also registered double-figures in scoring for the Groove.

The RiverSharks will play next on Sunday, February 22nd at the Family Arena as they host the Champaign Swarm.  The Groove will also play on the 22nd in a road contest against the Bloomington Flex.  Both games can viewed online at www.thempba.com.
