Back-to-back big games leads team to two wins

February 9, 2015

ST. LOUIS – Seventy points and twenty rebounds in four days is an impressive feat.  It’s exactly what the Champaign Swarm’s Arnold Louis did on Thursday and Sunday of last week, and those two monster games have earned him Midwest Professional Basketball Association Player of the Week honors for the week ending February 8, 2015.

Louis posted an MPBA-record 43 points Thursday night in his team’s 130-102 win over the Chicago Force, and added ten rebounds to boot.  Then, on Sunday against the Windy City Groove, Louis scored 27 points and pulled down another ten boards in helping to lead his team back from a 16-point third-quarter deficit to win 87-80.

Chicago’s Derrick McDonald again had a strong week, with back to back 20/10 games.  Against the Swarm Thursday, McDonald put up 29 points and corralled 15 rebounds.  He followed up that performance with 23 points and 11 boards Sunday against Bloomington.

Also in that game, Bloomington’s Justin Bocot scored 30 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field and 11-of 12 from the free throw line.  It was Bocot’s fourth 30-point performance of the season, and he continues to lead the league in scoring at 27.6 per game.  McDonald is second at 24.1, and Louis is third at 22.7.
