Champaign makes first roster moves in advance of rematch

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Champaign Swarm (5-1) return home after a successful two-game road swing that saw Chris Daleo's team sweep the tenants of Chicago's Kroc Center.

Full Game Notes

The Swarm beat the Windy City Groove on January 30 and then the Chicago Force on February 5, both in Chicago.  The Swarm host the Groove (1-4) Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Parkland College in Champaign in the third of their four meetings this year.  Champaign won the first two contests, 115-89 and 92-84.  It will be the Swarm's first home appearance since their first loss of the season, a 102-81 rout at the hands of the Bloomington Flex on January 29.

Champaign has added two players in advance of the matchup: Livan Pyfrom, a 6'11" center from Creighton with a wealth of overseas and NBA D-League experience, who will also serve as an assistant coach; and Avery Smith, a 6'3" guard from Wisconsin-Milwaukee, who also has extensive foreign experience.  Pyfrom, 36, played for Daleo on the Rockford Lightning in the Continental Basketball Association in 2005.

The Groove, meanwhile, are trying to find their way back into the win column after an opening-day triumph on January 10.  They have since lost four straight, the last two to the Swarm, and have been idle since January 30.

The last time the Swarm and Groove met, Windy City's Nate Fuqua scored 27 points despite nursing a dislocated finger on his shooting hand.  Fuqua is averaging 19.5 points per game, second on the team to the recently signed Darrin Johnson, who is averaging 26.0 after two games.

The game will be available on the MPBA website free of charge.  Pregame coverage with Scott Beatty begins at 2:50 p.m.
