Swarm improve to 5-1

CHICAGO – Arnold Louis had a night to remember on Thursday.

The Champaign Swarm forward scored 43 points as the Swarm rolled to a 130-102 victory over the Chicago Force at the Kroc Center on Thursday night.

The mark is a new scoring high for both the Swarm and the Midwest Professional Basketball Association in its inaugural season.

The Swarm (5-1) jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back. After Champaign built a 65-43 halftime advantage, Chicago cut the lead to nine points at 72-63 in the third quarter. But the Swarm responded with a barrage of three-pointers, including three from Carl Mitchell and two from Matt Neaville to put the game out of reach.

Five other Swarm players scored in double-digits. Neaville scored 17 off the bench, Mitchell dropped 15, and Aaron Weaver and Jordan Walker each had 13. Rashard McGill scored 11 before leaving in the second quarter with a knee injury.

Derrick McDonald, the league’s second leading scorer, had 29 points and 15 rebounds for Chicago (2-4), his fourth straight double-double that has 20 or more points.

The Swarm return home to host the Windy City Groove at 3 p.m. this Sunday, February 8, at Parkland College.  The Force, meanwhile, host the Bloomington Flex, also this Sunday at 3 p.m.
