ST. LOUIS – With three straight 30-point games to burst out of the gate, Justin Bocot of the Bloomington Flex has been named the January Player of the Month in the Midwest Professional Basketball Association.

The former Southern Illinois University standout started off the 2015 season by setting a club record with three straight games scoring 30 points or more.  His lowest point total on the season thus far has been 22 points.  Bocot leads the MPBA in scoring with a 27.2 per-game average, on the strength of a .548 field goal percentage, including .353 from three-point range.  He also averages 6.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game in leading the Flex to a 4-1 record and first place in the MPBA.

“Justin is a hard worker and deserves this honor,” said Bloomington Flex coach Carlnel Wiley.  “He’s had a tremendous start to the season, and he’s one of the main reasons we’re in first place right now,” Wiley said.

Derrick McDonald of the Chicago Force earned runner-up recognition for his strong January.  McDonald is averaging 23.2 points and 12.4 rebounds per game.  He leads the MPBA in rebound average, total rebounds and offensive rebounds, while averaging 2.2 assists per contest.
