Carlwell's 10 first-half blocks set pace for Chicago

January 31, 2015

CHICAGO - The Chicago Force and Gateway Steam battled back and forth for all four quarters at the Kroc Center in Chicago, but in the end, the record-setting block party by Ronnie Carlwell helped the Force hold off the Steam 104-102 in front of a near-capacity crowd.

Carlwell's 10 first-half blocks kept the new additions to the Steam from breaking away.  Derrick McDonald also got into the groove with another big performance, this time with 29 points and 15 rebounds.  Antoine Ware was also a big low post presence for the Force (2-3), dropping in 23 points, including the last six from the foul line.  Erin Pryor and Darius Smith added 12 each.

The Steam (1-6) had their new additions come up big, but could not close the gap at the end.  Lee Fisher led the Steam with 25 points, while Will Kirksay added 12.  Jake Anderson dropped in 14 to pace the backcourt.

Both are back in action on February 5, when the Steam battle the RiverSharks and the Force host the Swarm.
