#42 – Anthony Slack (nickname: Beast Mode) is another name that should resonate with area basketball fans. The “Slack Attack” starred at Illinois State University, earning Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2008.
As a senior that year, the New Orleans native started 33 games for a Redbird squad that went 25-10, averaging 9.5 points, and 7.1 rebounds per game. Slack played for the Central Illinois Drive in 2012, and then took a hiatus from playing in 2013 and most of 2014 before returning to the Flex late last seaon. During that time, Slack served as an assistant coach at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kansas, where, as a player from 2004-06, he won two conference championships and led his team to a 33-6 record and a top-10 national tournament finish.
