Another Midwest Professional Basketball Association product is making his debut in Spain—this time it’s Julian Lewis of the Windy City Groove.

Lewis follows Blake Burgess of the Pontiac 66ers and David Atkinson of the Lima Express, who both signed with Spanish clubs after the 2016 MPBA season. Lewis will be playing in the Spanish Liga EBA with CB Benidorm.

In 14 regular-season games with the Groove in 2016, the 6’6” forward from Lewis University averaged 12.8 points and 6.9 rebounds. His best games came on February 6, 2016 against the Gateway Steam, when he scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and on March 9, 2016 against the Chicago Blues, when he scored 16 points and pulled down 14 boards.

“We’re proud of Julian and glad he’s gotten this opportunity,” said C. Edward “Ed” Schumer, commissioner and chief executive officer for the MPBA. “He’s a very professional young man, and we wish him success.”

Lewis is the 57th player to advance from the MPBA since the league began play in January 2015.
