PONTIAC, Illinois – The Pontiac 66ers used a huge fourth quarter from Alfonzo Houston to come back from 15 points down against the Chicago Blues and pull out a 110-109 win Sunday, securing the number one overall seed in the upcoming Midwest Professional Basketball Association playoffs, finishing the regular season a league-best 12-4.

Chicago had dominated much of the game, taking an 85-70 lead into the fourth quarter. But Alfonzo Houston exploded for 24 points in the final period, single-handedly matching the Blues’ output in the quarter.

With the Blues leading 109-108 and time winding down, Diante Watkins drew an offensive foul trying to break a trap along the sideline. On the ensuing possession, Blake Burgess knocked down a pair of free throws after getting fouled with 5.5 seconds to play.

A Tremell Adams shot missed at the buzzer for the Blues, who were outscored 40-24 in the fourth quarter.

Houston scored 41 points for Pontiac, as three other 66ers also scored in double figures. Al Rapier led the Blues (8-6) with 23 points, while Antoine Ware scored 17 and bagged nine rebounds. Five other Blues also tallied double figures in scoring.

Despite the loss, the Blues are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs after finishing 4-16 a year ago.
