Fourth RiverShark to advance this season

March 5, 2016

ST. LOUIS - Reigning Midwest Professional Basketball Association Most Valuable Player and current Player of the Week Justin Bocot is leaving the St. Louis RiverSharks, bound for Mexico today after agreeing to terms with San Carlos Guaymas of the CIBACOPA league.

"I'm excited about a new journey, something different after having played in China," said Bocot via text message from O'Hare International Airport.  "I wish my RiverSharks teammates good luck the rest of this season."

Bocot was second in the MPBA in scoring in 2016, averaging 25.9 points per game, to go along with 5.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals.

"We're glad for him, but it's tough," said RiverSharks head coach Ray Farrell, whose team has lost four players this season to overseas contracts and is scheduled to play in Chicago this afternoon.  "It's a good problem to have--obviously we'd love to have him with us, but this league is about moving guys on."

Bocot follows Keith DeWitt, Brandon Hogg and Gavin Schumann from St. Louis to leave for foreign contracts this season.  He is the 15th MPBA player to advance this season, and 35th overall since the league began play in January 2015.
