Lima comes back from 27 down in second half

CHICAGO – The Chicago Blues needed some clutch free-throw shooting to survive a furious Lima Express comeback, holding on to win 120-116 after squandering a 27-point third-quarter lead.

The Blues jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.  A pair of three-pointers by Tremell Adams at the end of the first quarter fueled the Blues to a 35-22 lead after one.

Chicago kept up the pressure in the second, opening up a 20-point lead before an Express run near the end of the half cut the lead to 14 at 64-50.

The third quarter continued to see Chicago dominate, as the hosts spread the lead to 27 at 92-65.  But that’s when Lima began its assault, ending the quarter on a 11-2 run.

The fourth quarter was all Express.  Lima patiently reeled in the Blues, and got to within one at 117-116 on a pair of Cordaryl Ballard free throws with :22.0 remaining in the game.

Lima, however, would not score again, as Ryan Jackson and Sherron Collins sank three free throws between them to ice the game.

Tremell Adams scored 24 for Chicago.  He was one of seven players scoring in double figures for the Blues, who raised their record to 4-3.

Kyle Meyer led Lima with 30.  Johnny Elliott added 27, and Ballard scored 25.  Lima fell to 3-4 with the loss.
