ST. LOUIS - The Midwest Professional Basketball Association and the Molten Corporation have reached an agreement for the Molten GL-7 to become the official basketball for the 2016 MPBA season.

The GL-7 is Molten's top-of-the-line elite competition ball, and is used in official FIBA (International Basketball Federation) play, including the Olympic Games.

The GL-7 is recognized around the world for its distinctive two-tone pattern.

"We're thrilled to have reached this agreement with Molten, and we look forward to a long relationship with them," said C. Edward "Ed" Schumer, commissioner and chief executive officer of the MPBA.  "Not only is it a superior ball, it prepares our players for what they're going to be using when they go overseas."

Teams will use the GL-7 in MPBA play in all games for the remainder of the season, beginning with this weekend's games.
