Express head north to take on Windsor

December 13, 2015

WINDSOR, Ontario - The Lima Express, seeing their first action since March, dropped a 108-82 exhibition contest to the defending National Basketball League of Canada champions, the Windsor Express, at the St. Clair Sportsplex Sunday.

Lima, which opens its first season in the Midwest Professional Basketball Association on Jan. 10, 2016, traveled with only eight players to Canada to take on the 15-man Windsor team.

Windsor blistered the nets to the tune of 58% to Lima's 25% in the first half en route to a 62-32 halftime lead.

Lima shot much better in the second half and outscored the hosts 50-46, but too much damage had been done early in the game for Mark Anderson's squad to catch up.

Lima's Jody Hill led all scorers with 26 points, while David Atkinson tallied 22.  Lima's Kyle Meyer notched eleven points and ten rebounds.  Maurice Bolden led Windsor with 23 points.  Bolden was one of four Windsor players in double figures.

Lima is the second MPBA team to play an international exhibition game.  Earlier in 2015, the Bloomington Flex played eleven games in 20 days on a tour of China.

The second MPBA season tips off on Saturday, Jan. 9, as the Windy City Groove travel to Champaign to take on the defending league champion Swarm.
