Swarm guard finished third in league scoring

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Champaign Swarm guard Aaron Weaver has collected the Midwest Professional Basketball Association’s Sixth Man of the  Year award, the league announced on Thursday night. Weaver was also named a member to the 2nd-team All-MPBA.

Postseason awards were determined through a vote of league media personnel and coaches.

The 26-year-old Chicago native finished third in the league in scoring average (20.7) and field goals made (142).  Weaver was one of two players to appear in every Swarm game this season.

“Aaron worked hard this season and deserves this award,” Swarm head coach Chris Daleo said.  “I’m glad he had the opportunity to play with us this season.  That’s what we’re all about -- giving guys with talent a chance to develop and gain exposure, so they can advance their careers.”

Weaver was the Swarm’s leading scorer in eight games this season, and he scored 20 or more points in six games, including a season-high 37-point performance on Feb. 19 against Chicago.

Weaver and the Swarm will contend for the MPBA title at 7 p.m. tonight at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, Ill.
