CHAMPAIGN, Ill. –The Champaign Swarm added LaPhonso Ellis Jr. to their roster, head coach Chris Daleo announced on Thursday.

The 27-year-old guard has played professionally in the Premier Basketball League and international pro showcases. Ellis enjoyed a successful college career at Greenville College, where he was a two-year captain and averaged 20.6 points per game his senior season and a 15.5 career average.

Ellis is the son of a former NBA player LaPhonso Ellis Sr., who was the fifth overall draft pick by the Denver Nuggets in 1992 and had an 11-year career.

In a concurrent move, the Swarm have released guard Charles Robinson. The Swarm roster currently has 10 active players.

The Swarm tip off against Chicago at 6 p.m. tonight at the Dodds Athletic Center at Parkland College in Champaign.
