Inaugural game at 3 p.m. on Sunday

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The Champaign Swarm will host their inaugural game in team history on Sunday when they host the St. Louis RiverSharks at 3 p.m. at the Dodds Athletic Center at Parkland College.

The game marks a piece of Champaign history; the Swarm are the first professional basketball team in Champaign-Urbana and one of the few professional sports teams ever in the community. The last pro sports club was a minor league baseball team that played one season in 1994.

To honor the event, Champaign mayor Don Gerard will issue an official proclamation declaring January 11 "Champaign Swarm Day" just prior to tipoff.

Head coach Chris Daleo said his probable starters are guard Robert Broughton, guard Rashard McGill, guard Mark St. Fort, forward Arnold Louis and forward Carl Mitchell.

While the Swarm will play for the first time, the RiverSharks will come to Champaign with three games in the books. The enter weekend play at 2-0 and take on the Chicago Force Saturday night. Guard Terry Leak heads into the weekend contests as the leading St. Louis scorer at 25.5 points per game. Big man Keith DeWitt poured in 30 points in St. Louis' season opener against the Gateway Steam and is leading rebounder, averaging 9.5 per game. Brandon Hogg averages three assists per game.

Tickets to the game are $8 and are available at the door.
