October 20, 2016

ST. LOUIS - The Midwest Professional Basketball Association has announced the details for its only combine in advance of the 2017 season, set to begin in mid-January. An officials' clinic will be held in conjunction with the combine.

The event will be held at the Edward Hospital Event and Athletic Center (55 Phelps Ave., Romeoville, Illinois; formerly Romeoville Athletic Center) on Sunday, November 20, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

"We've had about 30% of the approximately 200 players that have accumulated statistics in our league in two seasons move on to higher leagues or overseas," said Craig Fata, associate commissioner and chief communications officer for the MPBA. "We expect this combine to bring in some of the next 50 who are capable of moving on to the next level."

Participation is limited to the first 100 paid online registrations. The registration fee is $125, and no payments at the door or walk-up registrations will be allowed. Check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m.

Representatives from all MPBA teams will be in attendance.

There will be two sessions at the event. From 9-noon is the “skills and drills” session, and game scrimmages will be from 1-5. Scrimmages will be recorded, and links to the scrimmage videos will be given to participants upon request.

An MPBA reversible mesh jersey and an MPBA t-shirt will be provided. An athletic trainer will also be on site.

Officials interested in attending the clinic can register HERE. The fee for the officials' clinic is $100 until midnight on November 11.  After that, the fee will be $125. Officials must be pre-registered in order to participate in the clinic.
